My Students

Hi! I am a first year teacher at a Title I school. I will be teaching first grade, and I am very excited! There is no funding for a classroom rug, and I would love to be able to provide one for my students. At my school, we have a variety of students from a variety of backgrounds. All of the students receive a free breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Many of the students also receive food to take home on the weekends. These students come to school with a love for learning.

My Project

Do you happen to remember your classroom carpet from elementary school? This is a special place where a lot of our learning takes place, and it is much more welcoming than a cold, tile floor. The classroom carpet is a meeting place for students and the teacher. Many concepts are introduced and practiced here. Stories are heard. Minds begin to grow. It's that one very special place in the classroom where everyone feels welcome and everyone knows that something new and exciting is about to take place! The carpet is a “home” within the classroom! Having a classroom carpet will help give my students a place to make many memories throughout the year!
