Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is a fun and exciting place for my visual art students to learn. We have a variety of learners of different ages such as PreK-3 year olds up to 8th graders. Most of our student community is made up of English language learners, bilingual students, and special needs (students with Autism.).

When I teach my lessons to students in grades PreK to third grade, as well as our special needs (students with Autism), I always begin with a story where students come together on the carpet.

It is a great spot to begin our lesson. Since the Smart Board is right in front of the carpet area, we begin to look at images of art work relating to our what students will be learning that day. It is a more intimate and cozy environment for our younger and special needs students to learn. I also have special seating in that area consisting of two small chairs and a few big plushies as well for them to hold for comfort if they need to.

I had a carpet but over the summer it disappeared and no one knows where it went. It is very important to my classroom and lessons to have a carpet for my babies! They have been sitting on the floor since the first day of school. We would be so grateful for a carpet, plus one as beautiful as this! Students can also refer to the letters of the alphabet and the beautiful colors and shapes as we learn!
