These are difficult times. Our students are traumatized in multiple ways. Many students have fears about someone in their family being deported. Many students are impacted by the commemoration of the three year, ongoing war in Ukraine. This project is specifically geared to help students feel cozy when everything around them is just too hard.
A cozy corner is a place in the classroom where students can read something special, relax on something soft, and forget their big feelings for a little while.
If students' emotional needs are not met, there is no room for academics. All other school priorities go out the window until a student is self-regulated enough to learn. The purpose of this project is to provide a feeling of safety and security until they can return to work.
