Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The focus of this project is to provide my students with a warm, welcoming, and content related classroom through means of alternate lighting sources and content related decor. According to a 2022 case study, “A case study on the effect of light and colors in the built environment on autistic children's behavior.” Lighting has a significant impact on the sensory system of autistic children.

While my entire population is not on the spectrum, I know all students will benefit.

In an active and productive classroom, students often get over-stimulated. When students become over-stimulated they can react in different ways such as checking out or getting off task. Being provided with alternate lighting will allow me to reduce one of the ways students may be getting over-stimulated. Thank you!
