My Students

Our tiny, rural, Title 1 school is located in Central New York. My students come from a very tight-knit community, in which most of the families have lived for generations. Despite our small size, we have a diverse population and students come from all different backgrounds and experiences.

It is so important to me to be able to provide my 15 1st grade students a classroom that supports their needs, engages them in learning, and provides a safe space for them to explore, wonder, and create.

I am a career changer who is very excited to be embarking on my very first year of teaching! I so appreciate your consideration in supporting my students and our classroom. Thank you so much!

My Project

I am a first year teacher, still building my classroom. It is so important to me to be able to provide my students with a space that is calm and inviting. I want my kids to love to read, and I truly believe a big part of that is being comfortable while they are exploring books!

My fifteen first graders need a cozy space to spend some time learning to read to others and to themselves.

The couch is a beautiful, neutral, and calm color. The material is soft, durable and can comfortably fit two first grade students. The floor chairs are a great soft space for my students to read to themselves, and the carpet helps to soften the reading nook, as well as to provide a defined space for our reading time.

Providing a comfortable reading environment will encourage my students to spend time in our reading nook engaging in their favorite books.
