Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My beautiful students are five year old little boys and girls of Latino cultural background. They live in the neighborhoods of Mid City Los Angeles and go to a Title I community school.

They are 100% English Language Learners eager to learn and have fun doing so!

Most of my students have not had any school experience before entering my classroom. They are generally shocked by the school experience but then assimilate and grow from there. I'm very proud of how much my students accomplish in just a year!

My Project

This project will be used on a daily basis by my students. These library reading pillows will allow for my students to really understand and actually live out what it means to enjoy a great book. During center time they will have a chance to get to really enjoy reading by having a safe place to be themselves and have a chance to really dive into a book without any distractions from their everyday lives.

I'm really excited to see them using these pillows and knowing that it's ok to relax to a good book.

As my students learn to read this year, they will get more and more enthused for reading and having a comfortable and cozy place to practice their skills with a friend is all I want for them!
