I am a new teacher who was hired to teach STEAM/Makers Space while using technology. STEM helps students understand real world applications and prepare them for 21st Century careers.
More than ever before, there are more opportunities for Engineering, using technology, Science related jobs and understanding mathematics.
By having a lab, students will be able to explore and experiment with ideas by using every day materials such as straws, sticks, tape, etc. They will be able to code and collaborate together on an idea.
Cozmo is a little robot that does what is told. By incorporating Cozmo in the lab, students will be able to code to help Cozmo move to an object or around an object. Students will use their iPads to write the code and send it to Cozmo.
Cozmo can help students be prepared for the 21st Century world.
With the school being located in a low income area, using STEM and technology will help these students with their future in whatever they do. There might be some future game software designers in the class and by having the students code, they will be engaged!
