This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At the end of every school year, we have a field day that last all morning long. Field Day is a great way to review everything we have learned in PE as well as to celebrate the end of state testing. Our field day consist of over 30 stations that are spread across our soccer field, basketball courts, and our playground.
With the help of this community, I want to add Archery and Axe Throwing to our field day.
Archery requires focus, concentration, and precision. It will help my students improve their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and problem-solving abilities. The sport also promotes patience, discipline, and self-control. Axe throwing is a physically demanding activity that requires strength, accuracy, and good judgment. It will help my students build upper body strength, improve their coordination, and develop a sense of balance. The sport also fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.
This school year, we are trying to have over 50 stations! Majority of our stations rely on teamwork, cooperative games. Cooperative games promote group cohesion and increase pro-social skills including sharing and kindness. Lastly cooperative games are fun, non-competitive activities that enhance communication skills and problem-solving skills. I am confident that these archery and axe throwing stations will make a significant impact on my students' learning and development.
