Help me give my students face masks and journals to help learn about the importance of mask to inform and protect them and others from this deadly virus!!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in a Title I preschool, and 100% of our students receive free lunch. Many of the students have a parent in the military. The children must meet the at-risk criteria to attend this program. The criteria include family income, identified disabilities, parent employment, and English proficiency.
I provide a creative classroom environment with materials in the learning centers that empowering students.
I also provide science, technology, engineering, and math activities. I believe this will prepare all of my students to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
My Project
We are going to being remote learning on or before March 15th. My young students have not had to wear a mask all day to attend school this whole school year. This will present them with lots of stress and great challenges.
With this project, I hope to engage my students in proper mask wearing by having masks and self-regulating materials available for them.
I will be a model that mask wearing is the new social norm. I want to offer them other tools to help them self-regulate their emotions, that will teach them to calm their worried minds. I want to provide them journals to be used on a daily basis to help them express themselves in a healthy manner. Also the bubble poppers will help students regulate their bodies when they are feeling anxious. Lastly, the masks will assist in having the proper materials needed for them to stay safe, but also participate in Literacy and Speech activities.
