My Students
Developmental kindergarten is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a paint brush or sound out words. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and dance.
In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.
Through our morning meeting time, we get to know one another and learn how to show empathy towards our peers. We are working on building our character, our social-emotional skills, and our intelligence through a developmentally appropriate kindergarten program.
My Project
This school year, I feel like so much of the magical elements of kindergarten have been taken away due to safety concerns. Please help me provide my in-person students with creating kits that can be sanitized nightly. These kits will allow students to use their creativity by playing, building, and creating at their seats while socially distancing from their peers. All requested materials can be easily sanitized after each use, making them a safe way for my kindergarten kids to get to play.
Mr. Rogers once said that play is often looked at as a break from serious learning, but for young kids play IS serious learning.
It is so important for me to be able to provide my students with play outlets throughout the day in order to help them grow socially and academically. Thank you for taking the time to read about my project.
