Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges not only in the classroom but at home as well. Despite the their disabilities these students have inspired everyone around them daily. Despite the challenges they encounter daily, these students are creative, inspiring and amazing!
Many of them are being raised in single family homes and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
These students also have disabilities which often times prevent them from getting ahead as well. From the minute they walk in the classroom I am looking focusing on their strengths in order to help them grow. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can give them a safe place in the classroom where they will begin to flourish. I hope that I can inspire them just half as much as they inspire me daily.
My Project
I have created packets and supplies that our students need while they are out! The community can come by and grab what they need or message me so i can deliver!! I want no one to feel alone during this time! Students will have access to materials while they are home. Books to continue reading, packets to sharpen skills, and arts and crafts to take a break now and then! I want every student to have what they need! Each packet has every subject within it and level for them! This will help with their learning while they are out!
