Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
While all of my students live in the same general neighborhood, their backgrounds, home language and cultures vary greatly. There are students with special needs, ELL needs, behavioral needs, and emotional needs. I set high expectations for all students and strive to give them quality experiences that they may not otherwise receive. Hands-on experiences are crucial for all students to deeply learn within the classroom.
My students are all excited to learn in fun, engaging, student-centered ways.
I am dedicated to not only teaching each student academics but also incorporating social and life skills such as solving disagreements calmly, taking turns, sharing their thinking with others, and including others no matter their differences.
My students are hard workers who love to learn about everything using a growth mindset. They add the word "yet" to the end of their sentences when they are faced with a roadblock. They always embrace the challenge that they need to try hard things in order to make their brains grow.
My Project
With new COVID-19 guidelines in the classroom, it is even more vital that my students are outside and safely playing during recess. However, the guidelines do not stop when they are outside of the school building. This means that my students need more materials so that they can actively play, while remaining socially distanced from their classmates.
Help me give my students engaging gross motor materials that will help them to burn off some excess energy, learn and practice social skills, and get their bodies and minds ready to learn new and challenging things in the classroom.
The koosh balls, poly spots, basketballs, playground balls, jump ropes, and bag are going to teach my students important social skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
