Many of our students are low income. They are very compassionate and giving. Many know what it is like to go without so when they have an opportunity to give they share twice as much. My students work hard and they love to learn and grow.
Our featured photo is some of our after school choir supporting a local dance school.
They invited us to help them by singing a special song while they dance for a their virtual state dance conference video. We love helping others and being part of our community!
COVID has made it a tough year being allowed to meet together. We are so excited to get back together we used our first few rehearsal times to do nothing except be together and do the service projects we have been missing for our community and fellow students. Putting others first is the spirit in our classroom and of my students!
My Project
I am requesting recorders, chopsticks, kazoos, egg shakers and bags. Last year our students LOVED their gig bags! Thanks to donors all of our third, fourth and fifth graders had their own bag of instruments. The bags were such a success and so helpful with difficult times due to so many hours away from school. They also helped keep us safe when we were in school by having their own equipment.
We would love for our incoming third graders to have their own bag of instruments to use along with the fourth and fifth graders who have saved theirs to use again this year.
So many students who weren't motivated to learn due to virtual learning put forth excelled effort toward practicing on the instruments in their bags. Many parents shared in the experience with their children making it more hands on and time working together.
