My Students

Low income. Impoverished. At-risk. These are all terms used to describe my students. Though these are all apt descriptions, that's not how I choose to describe my students, my kids.

Risk-takers, inspiring, caring, and inquisitive are just some of the terms I could say about these wonderful kids.

As if they don't have enough hurdles in their life, remote learning due to Covid has thrown yet another obstacle in their path.

Help me get math resources in their hands at home so they can still be successful.

My Project

High school math often requires math manipulatives for each student. Many of my students cannot afford these math supplies such as rulers, compasses, protractors, and graph paper. In a typical year, students use class sets provided by teachers or school districts.

With remote learning, students cannot use these class supplies at home; and during in-person learning, we cannot share supplies until they are sanitized.

Providing more students with their own resources, for at-home and in-class use will help students complete their math work as they would be able to in the classroom.
