Help me give my students manipulatives for teaching math, such as pop-its and 100 charts that students can practice adding and subtracting as well as Whiteboards with lines to practice our penmanship and phonics.
My classroom is full of diverse learners. We have several students who are reading on grade level as well as below grade level. All come from different backgrounds and have a love of learning. They show up to school ready to learn and have active imaginations.
This class has many diverse needs due to the impacts of Covid-19 over the past 2 years and I need help to fill in their gaps!
This group of 2nd graders has been impacted by Covid-19 in every year of their education and it shows. They have missed out on key social interactions as well as academic learning. Their need for access to high-quality instruction and manipulatives reinforces that instruction is higher than ever.
My class is full of many different personalities that are fun, spunky, and energetic. I want our classrooms to be as engaging and interesting as they are. By fostering a love of learning, I hope to inspire them to a lifetime of reading and learning.
My Project
My project includes tools to help me support my students with social-emotional health as well as academic gaps. To support their social-emotional health I have asked for books to help them identify and relate their emotions to others. I find that students at this age relate so well to books and learn through the experiences of others.
To support the educational gaps left by Covid I have requested dry erase boards, pop its, and other math and reading materials to make learning interactive and fun.
I have found that by incorporating movement and games into my teaching students are more engaged and retain the information better.
