As a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district in southeastern Kentucky, I teach kindergarten, first and second grade. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Most parents are unemployed because no jobs are available. I want my students to be able to use technology in our classroom. They can be successful with any opportunity they are given. I teach them to be positive and to look at the future to know they can achieve their dreams.
My Project
I need a laptop to be able to teach my students reading and math in this difficult time. The Macbook will provide my students with feedback without delay. The Macbook will allow me to create resources for my students and to continue their learning process. My students need efficient feedback on their virtual learning and the Macbook will help in making it stress-free. I will be able to have daily google meets to teach my students virtual. This will allow me to interact with my students throughout this pandemic like we are still in class through google meet. I will also be recording myself reading books or a math lesson.
At the same time, the Macbook will allow me to be able to keep up with all my students' needs.
We need a laptop to be able to run several programs at the same time. For example, google slides, scholastic news, and boom cards need to be open tabs and ready to run immediately. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes to get started from my current laptop. My students become frustrated while waiting for my technology to work The Macbook will be transferred to the classroom to continue to enhance my students' education after the pandemic. Having this technology resource will help my students be ready for the next level.
