My Students
We have over 1,200 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Our students come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. They have used the library in the pre-COVID era to explore, research, gain more knowledge, and check out books for pleasure.
Our students feel that the library is the heart of the school.
Our students feel more comfortable accessing books from our school library. They will enjoy the convenience and the proximity of the school to check out and return books. Since libraries have been closed over the last several months, our students surely feel disappointed because they love the library and checking out books to read.
My Project
This project will help students continue their love of reading and learning. Because our school year was cut short by COVID, we were unable to supply students with enough library books over the spring and summer to prevent the summer slide. Now we have a plan to equip students with library books to keep them engaged.
More than ever, it is imperative to put books in our students' hands to give them a break from online instruction and to continue their love of reading.
Students will be able to reserve books online either by choice or curriculum-related. The outside book return will allow the librarians to safely retrieve library books. Students will like the comfort and convenience of returning library books and parents will find it convenient to return books beyond school hours.
