Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 6, 7 and 8th-grade students in the Mandarin DL program desire to excel in Mandarin in an immersive environment. According to the research, academic levels of children educated in a dual language immersion program often surpass those of children educated in English only.

My students live in a low-income high poverty area and they are eager to read, write, and learn Mandarin!

In the dual language program, students have more exposure to the target language and understand Chinese culture and the people. Thus, they are getting ready to better opportunities in a globalized world where the USA and China will continue to be major players. My students attend a school funded through Title I, and yet many of my students aspire to learn a second language.

My Project

My school is dedicated to blended learning in the classroom. I have been learning how to teach through the lens of blended learning. These students, with the supplies they receive from this project, will utilize blended learning lessons and on a hybrid class schedule.

In order to ensure protection for COVID-19 when schools re-open.

I plan to use facial masks and plastic facial shield with my students while implementing blended learning strategies in a safe and healthy learning environment. I hope to continue supporting my parents, and students online and offline such as helping students continue learning through school closures and other scheduling uncertainties.
