My Students

My classroom is full of energetic and eager to learn children. My goal is to have a classroom full of grade level readers by the end of the school year; which will include the implementation of reading and writing into all subject areas. I plan to use technology as a teaching assistant!

I work in a public Title I elementary school serving students in grades PK - 5.

My classroom consists of 21 Kindergarten students and me. My students consist of boys, girls, English speakers, and non-English speakers. Additionally, my children vary in their educational abilities with some students demonstrating above grade level behaviors while others have identified special academic needs. The technological backgrounds of my students are also diverse with some having continuous exposure to many technological devices and some having little to no experiences.

My Project

I want to make sure that all of my students have access to technological devices that will make them 21rst century learners and on the road to college readiness. I will be using iPads, desktop computers and Leapfrog TAG readers as teaching assistants. I would like to give more students exposure to on-line programs and tablet applications that can support them not just in reading but also in increasing math skills. However, when students are working on iPads, computers and TAG readers our room becomes polluted with noise and it makes it difficult to conduct small group lessons and it disrupts the work of other students working independently on non electronic activities. I would like to acquire quality headphones that not only reduce the noise pollution in our room but are also constructed in a manner to prevent tangling of cords to enable longer use by students in future years.

My students will have a more relaxing and quiet environment that is more conducive to learning.

Students will be less distracted and more relaxed which will lead to increased learning. It will not only benefit the focus and learning of the students working in small groups and those students working independently.
