My Students

I teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade special education. My classroom is designed for students who learn differently and need an individualized approach. Students' learning may be impacted by a variety of differences such as learning disabilities, autism, chromosomal abnormalities, etc.

My classroom is a safe second home for special learners to learn reading, writing, math, science, social and life skills.

Differences are not deficits. In my classroom, students are empowered and encouraged. Thank you for your impact on this unique and deserving community!

My Project

Our classroom has a diverse book collection, and we want to help all the books be appreciated. Students tend to go for their favorite books over and over, and it can be challenging to persuade them to branch out.

This style of bookcase displays the books' cover, rather than the spine which makes it easier for a student to pick up an interesting new book.

Teachers would be able to rotate books depending on the season, student interest or unit of study.

I also requested a 3D model of the human brain. We talk about our brains often, especially when teaching social and emotional concepts. This model will help students understand even better.

One student in our class has developed an interest in circuits and electricity. He would love to have the chance to buy the circuit kit with his classroom dollars, which he earns for homework.
