Counting on Success: Money Manipulatives for First Graders
Help me give my students coin counters and hands-on resources to help students identify, count, and work with money in real-world scenarios. They will enhance financial literacy, improve problem-solving skills, and provide hands-on learning opportunities.

My Project
In our Title I first-grade classroom, learning is more than just numbers on a page—it’s about creating connections to the real world. My students are enthusiastic, curious learners who thrive on hands-on activities. However, many of them lack the resources at home to practice critical skills like counting and working with money. Your support will help bridge this gap and provide my students with tools to develop essential financial literacy skills.
To help my first graders build a solid foundation in counting, adding, and understanding money, I am requesting a variety of money manipulatives, including realistic play coins, bills, and coin counters.
These resources will make abstract concepts tangible and fun, allowing students to develop confidence in their math abilities while learning practical life skills.
With your help, I hope to provide my students with hands-on materials that include [specific items such as a class set of play money, coin sorting trays, and money matching games]. These tools will be used daily in small groups, centers, and whole-class lessons to enhance engagement and understanding.
Your contribution will give my first graders the opportunity to connect math to the world around them. By mastering the basics of money, they’ll gain skills that will empower them far beyond the classroom. With these manipulatives, my students will not only improve their math abilities but also gain the confidence and readiness to tackle future challenges.
Thank you for helping my students grow into lifelong learners and problem solvers. Your generosity will create an immediate and lasting impact in their lives!
