Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are magnificent little Meerkats! They are in kindergarten and for many of them this is their very first time in school. Something I love about my students is that they are always excited to learn, everyday at school is a new adventure for them.
My students are special because they are academically and demographically unique.
They all bring their own unique knowledge to school. My students live in a low socioeconomic area, these math manipulatives will make a difference in their learning because they will be able to engage in math concepts through different and unique perspectives.
Additionally, students will get opportunities to explore math concepts independently. For example, these manipulatives will allow me to create counting collections for my students. For counting collections students will work in pairs to find creative and organized ways to count sets of items from small numbers like 15 to larger numbers like 120. These manipulatives will help them explore and visualize different counting strategies.
