Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This may sound cliche, but my students are probably the best individuals one can meet. They are honest, smart, outgoing, and friendly. They are not ashamed to ask for help and will lighten up any educators face. Work does not feel like "work" when I enter the building and I thank that to my students.
My students are ambitious, hard working, and enthusiastic individuals.
As fantastic and amazing my students are, they unfortunately come from vulnerable circumstances. My students are currently living in temporary housing and rely on the school for many supports. Our presence as educators can either make or break a student's day, which is why I make it a priority to ensure that I have a safe space for them to come to every day.
My Project
Throughout the school day, many of my students look for snacks or they take them after the school day to take back home for themselves and their families. For many of them, this is all the food they receive in a day.
Food helps us keep concentrated and focused, which is why I provide my students with snacks.
It helps to pay more attention in class and to meet academic expectations. It is especially helpful for those students who come to school late and miss breakfast, have a late lunch during the school day, or just simply need to take some home due to lack of resources.
