Cornelia Funke Rocks

My students need 11 books by the author Cornelia Funke.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Tilley's classroom raised $181

This project is fully funded

I am the librarian at an inner city, K-6 expeditionary learning school. Expeditionary Learning (EL) is a method of instruction that emphasizes high achievement through active learning and teamwork. We are very successful at what we do and currently have the highest state reading scores at the elementary level in our city!

One of the ways we have been so successful with our state reading scores is that our children love to read. However, our school has extremely limited resources. For example, my yearly budget in the library is just $1,000 which buys approximately 55 new books each year.

Our older children (grades 4-6) love fantasy and science fiction books and one of their favorite authors is Cornelia Funke. Her books are extremely popular and once a child reads one, they want to read them all. I have just a few of her books currently, but I would love to purchase all of them. I know that if these books were on display in the library, they would just fly off the shelves.

Your help will enable my students to continue to read books they enjoy and to help improve their reading abilities. These kids love to read and if they have quality books to reach for, they will. Since these books will be housed in the library, they will be available to children of many ages and also available for the children to read for years to come. Your consideration in funding this proposal would be deeply appreciated.
