Thanks for reading my proposal! Hello, I am a history teacher at Richards High School on the South side of Chicago. My goal is to create a small library within my classroom. Currently, my textbooks are very outdated (COPYRIGHT 1988). This is a problem when you teach Modern American History. My vision is to have my students use sets of encyclopedias, magazines and newspapers to create a print rich environment for them to learn, analyze and discuss various historical as well as current events. My students are more motivated to read if they can understand how relevant the topic we study relates to them and their world. Many of my students do not have encyclopedias at home, nor do they receive magazines such as Newsweek or Time. Such resources would support the curriculum for Modern World History, as well as provide my students with much needed information. Please consider funding this opportunity for my well deserving class. Thank you!!
