This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My pre-k students learned how to use the computer this past school year. One of the many activities they enjoyed was drawing and creating their own original artwork online. However, with the absence of a printer, they were not able to print their masterpieces.

Just like a typical public school in Southern California, my students come from a very diverse group of families and backgrounds.

I teach pre-k and for a lot of my students, this is their first time in a school setting. Parents are often supportive and enthusiastic about their children's education. I enjoy teaching this age-group because I have a lot of opportunities introducing new things and gaining support and help from their parents.

My Project

Utilizing the computer is one of my students' favorite activities. A lot of educational programs give my students the opportunity to create their own drawings or artwork. Some also provide worksheets that they can print and use for reviewing the alphabet or numbers. In a lot of cases, my students want to print their work to show their parents. However, without a printer in class, they are unable to share what they have done, using the computer, to their families.

Donations towards a classroom printer with extra ink cartridges will provide me and my students with the chance to use the computer to its utmost potential.

This printer will also enable us to print materials from educational websites that will further their learning horizons.
