Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a group of dedicated, hard-working, eager-to-learn eighth-graders from low-income backgrounds; many of whom come from single-parent homes, while some live with grandparents and/or relatives. Many of my student population come with IEPs which require individualized interventions to help ALL students succeed. This comes with varying levels of learning challenges and more effort on my part to keep them engaged as often as possible.
Students will be able to worry less about how their families will afford basic necessities such as copy paper for class, while focusing more on their academic responsibilities.
It would be of great help if we were able to assist our low-income families by taking the cost of school supplies such as copy paper off their plates. It would be highly effective when many students can have a physical note in front of them rather than spending additional time to copy from the board. I know for sure a little bit would go a long way and it would be much appreciated by each and every one of them
