Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am reaching out with an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of students with special needs. Our goal is to create individual sensory boxes for each child in our program—tools designed to support emotional regulation, foster independence, and create a nurturing classroom environment.

These sensory boxes will be filled with carefully selected items that engage all five senses—touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight.

From textured materials and calming scents to fidget tools, sound makers, and visual aids, every item will be chosen with intention and tailored to meet the diverse sensory needs of our students.

Each student will receive their own personalized box, which they will help build themselves. When a child begins to feel overwhelmed or deviates from their emotional baseline, they can take their sensory box to a quiet, designated space within the classroom. This gives them the time and tools to process their feelings and return to learning when they’re ready—all while learning vital skills in self-regulation and emotional awareness.

To make this possible, we need your support.
