Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have been and continue to be the most resilient people in my life. The work they do with me is simply a drop in their ocean, which is why I am requesting these materials to give to students before the school year ends.

After 9 months of learning about emotions, triggers, and coping skills, my students are prepared to use take-home coping materials on their own.

They have worked hard to gain social-emotional independence, and these materials will push them to the next step.

My students will use the breathe bands and bubbles to practice the breathing techniques they practiced this year. Things like fidget spinners and pop-its will be used as a concentration tool, and the Play-Doh will be used to practice building emotions, just as we had done in class. I will package these coping skills kits in drawstring backpacks so students have their kit on the go. These kits will further my students' use of coping skills, and introduce the use of them in a new environment that their parents can engage in.
