I am the School Social Worker at an elementary school. We have students with multiple special needs. Many times, certain tools can help these children cope a little better at school, where things can seem "chaotic" at times. As a therapist, behavioral analyst, and social worker, I have seen items listed as very beneficial. They may be small, but the coping assistance is mighty!
Items such a fidget spinner, certain trinkets, bands for their chairs, sand, and "chewies" can help our sensory challenged students keep focused.
I also use stress balls and other items for anger management for all students. I teach groups of students coping skills, and I have an incentive program that allows students to choose such items as rewards.
