This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With the recent cutbacks we can't copy scenes and monologues to perform in class. Each student is entitled to only four copies per month for all of our classroom assignments. Without our own copier, students have to use valuable class time to hand write the scripts themselves.

I teach at an under-served middle school in Southern California.

Most of my students are considered "at-risk" and all of them qualify for the free Federal lunch program. Students will tell me that they love their neighborhood and where they are from, despite the gangs, tagging, and violence that sometimes goes on there.

My Project

Because of the cutbacks in education, each teacher at our school has a limited amount of copies they can use per month. With the increase in class sizes this year, this amounts to less than four copies per pupil; including graphic organizers, thinking maps, and copies of scripts, specific copies for students with special needs. Last year, thanks to DonorsChoose and generous donors, we were able to get our own copier that allowed us to make our own copies. It helped us in so many ways! But now we need to refill the toner cartridges for the copier because they have run out of ink. I am requesting these toner cartridges so that my students can have the copies they need to do their work for my class.

With these toner cartridge my students will have the tools they need to be successful in my Theatre Arts classroom.

Without the ability to make copies of the scripts, graphic organizers, and thinking maps that we need, students spend their time copying it themselves rather than really working on the skills that will make them successful. Please help my students to do their very best and use their time in a meaningful way.
