My Project

Cooperative games and pretend play are powerful tools for supporting elementary students’ learning and the development of speech and language skills. These activities promote collaboration, problem-solving, and communication - all of which are essential for language development! In cooperative games, students must listen to one another, follow directions, take turns, and use expressive language to negotiate and work as a team. Pretend play, similarly, encourages children to use their imagination and narrative skills as they create roles, scenarios, and dialogues. This kind of play helps expand vocabulary, reinforce grammar structures, and build social language skills such as making requests, asking questions, and expressing feelings. Together, these experiences provide a natural, engaging context for students to practice language in meaningful ways, which supports both academic learning and social-emotional development.
