Your generosity has provided valuable tools and resources that are already helping students improve their fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory regulation, and participation in everyday classroom activities.\r\n\r\nAs a school-based occupational therapist (OT), I work with teachers to identify practical tools that help students succeed in their general education classrooms. These resources are already being trialed by students, and teachers are reporting positive results! For example, pencil grips have been helpful for younger students who are developing their handwriting skills, while word spacers are helping older students improve spacing and readability in their written work. Sensory supports, such as chair kickbands, are also helping students who benefit from additional movement and sensory input while seated.\r\n\r\nIt is exciting to see how small, practical tools can make classroom tasks feel more manageable and help students build confidence and independence. By allowing teachers to trial resources before determining what works best for individual students, the OT Tool Cart helps us find meaningful supports without taking a one-size-fits-all approach.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I will continue collaborating with teachers to identify student needs, trial appropriate tools, and share strategies that support participation and success in the classroom. Because of your kindness, our students have had exciting opportunities to learn through hands-on activities that inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nYour donations have helped students strengthen their math skills through partner games and friendly competitions, expand their vocabulary by building and sorting words with prefixes and suffixes, and bring STEM learning to life by using LEGO bricks to design models and share their thinking.\r\n\r\nThe LEGO bricks also guided students through the creative design process, helping them build structures and models that complemented our read-alouds and STEM challenges. They encouraged students to think critically, solve problems, and work collaboratively while bringing their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nThe Wild Robot books became a special part of our classroom community. Reading a chapter together during our morning meetings brought our class closer together and gave students something to look forward to each day. Through the story, students practiced important comprehension skills aligned with our state standards, including making predictions, drawing inferences, and analyzing point of view. These meaningful discussions made learning both fun and engaging while fostering a love of reading.\r\n\r\nYour support is doing so much more than providing classroom materials—it is creating an environment where curiosity, confidence, and joy can flourish every day.
