This year I am lucky to have 20 wonderful first graders! Our school is nestled in a neighborhood, which means many of these children are like family to one another. From day one, there has been a great sense of community in our room.
Every child comes into our classroom with an open heart and a smile on their face.
They are all different in their own unique way, which makes our classroom community even greater. They are curious, enthusiastic, creative, silly, fun-loving kids and our classroom would be nothing without their passion for learning, loving and helping one another.
My Project
We all have tough days, right? Imagine being a 7 year old who is having a difficult day, emotionally, while trying to learn among many other children. In our classroom, we have established a "comfy corner" for those who need a spot to calm themselves down. This is a place where we can regain our happiness and come back to the carpet ready to be the best version of ourselves.
Encouraging children to understand how to manage emotions, in and out of the classroom, will lead to a strong foundation of a positive and healthy lifestyle.
I consistently encourage the children to spend some time in the "comfy corner" in order to be our best self. This spot in our room will help the children build confidence, set goals for themselves, and view their day in a more positive way.
I have seen the way this cozy corner has benefited multiple children in our class. Continuing to build this spot will show the children just how important our emotions are!
