Cool Shades: Foresting Our School with Native Plants and Trees

Help me give my students tools to start native forests in our school. Our mini forest will give us cool place to take a break, save water & energy, and be kind to the earth.

My Project

We are adopting patches of land on campus to plant native plants and trees.

Native plants and trees require less water, grow fast, and provide shade.

The students can take a break, parents can wait, and everyone to cool down. Currently, the land requires daily watering and bi-weekly lawn mowing. The students will use the tools to plant and water the adopted garden which grows into mini forests.

TK-K students learn to take responsibility for the garden, take care of the plants, and grow with the trees. This unforgettable experience will follow them throughout the school years and more where they can always return and proudly claim the forest they started.

This project will grow native forests and climate-conscious earth citizens.
