My Students

I love teaching third grade! Third graders are at that age where they can start being more independent learners. They are starting to take control of their own learning.

I teach a fabulous group of 24 highly motivated third grade students.

They work hard and are very respectful. In our classroom, we are a tiny community. We all work together to make learning fun and exciting. My students constantly amaze me with their kindness, intelligence, and enthusiasm for learning. I know they all have a great future ahead of them!

My Project

In order to be successful in the workforce, students need to be able to collaborate with their peers. I want my students to be excited about collaborating with each other.

Collaborating while sitting at a desk tends to be a little uncomfortable and awkward.

Our goal is to get away from sitting at desks all day long. Our classroom is a traditional classroom in which each student has his or her own desk. I think by adding some other seating options, such as comfortable chairs and soft rugs, my students will feel more comfortable in their environment and be able to collaborate more successfully. Also, several of my students have anxiety. This cozy corner will allow those students a place to go to collect their thoughts and calm down.
