My Students

My students are a diverse group of children that include students who are on Individual Education Plans, as well as students who are English Language Learners. Our school's ELL students come from a variety of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Our school is a high-poverty, Pre K-8 school in an urban district. Most of our students receive free or reduced lunch and do not have access to technology at home.

Our school believes that with the right resources and high expectations, every student can and will achieve at the highest levels.

My Project

I have a great group of motivated students however when the temperatures rise it's hard for them to keep focused and on task. My classroom is on the top corner floor and receives sun all day long. Spring has just begun and the classroom is already warming up! In the warmer months we often have temperatures in the high 80's and 90's. With the heat and humidity on the way it would wonderful to have air conditioning. The room is quite large so two units would be necessary. Also they must be portable as the playground is below our classroom so traditional window units are not allowed. My students are hard workers and I would love to be able to keep them cool, comfortable and focused!
