Mrs. Takahama from Waimanalo HI is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a field trip to the Ice Palace with their middle school buddies to experience ice skating.
Aloha from na keiki o Hawai'i. My preschool special education class provides early intervention services to qualifying special needs children with a range of disabling conditions, ages 3 to 5 years. Most of my students struggle to speak and to be understood. My school is located in a predominantly rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children of Hawaiian and/or Pacific Island ancestry.
Our classroom cheer sums it up: "You too, we too, we all love preschool!" We are a group of actively involved adults-teacher, aide, and therapists, and children working together in our hands-on learning environment.
With rising summer temperatures, it's nice to think of ice. It's time to start work on funding our annual field trip to the Ice Palace as admission is expensive for our parents/guardians to add to tight family budgets. For most students this is the only time, if not the first time, that they get to go ice skating.
For this unique field trip, each of my special needs preschoolers will be joined and paired with Middle School mentors.
That way the older students will get the opportunity to teach the little ones as they learn to move together on the ice. Great experiences and fun for all!
