This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My middle school is a wonderful community school. We have so many different kinds of students with different needs, personalities, attitudes, but all are learning at different paces and in different ways. We have close to 600 students and are continuing to grow. 63% of our students receive free or reduced lunch, 36% are English Language Learners, and 17% are students with disabilities.
As a school community, we care about each other and inspire each other to always do better.
My Project
We're back at school with masks inside and outside. We continue to learn and have tests. When WI weather is sticky and muggy, some classrooms are over 80 degrees. For safety, classroom doors have to stay closed. Large classrooms fans can only be turned on when instruction is not taking place.
Help me provide small snacks, drinks, masks, and some fans for students.
School requires mental perseverance. No matter what period of the day, if a student's basic needs aren't met, it's difficult. These materials will help students from being hungry, thirsty, and cool. Students can bring water bottles from home, but many students either don't have them or forget them. Many water fountains are closed, but the water bottle filler is open.
