This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders come from various backgrounds, and all are enthusiastic about learning. Our classroom environment is welcoming to all their unique qualities. Students are always eager to learn new things and excited to participate in-class activities.

Our second graders are creative, inquisitive, and have a great potential to learn.

It is my hope to meet each student's individual needs as well as their personal goals.

My Project

These last few years have brought on new challenges for our students academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that improving a child's emotional well-being is vital to their academic success in the classroom.

This project will help me provide a designated cool-down corner for my students to self-regulate when anxiety or frustration gets the best of them.

My class consists of a diverse group of students including special needs students who require daily access to a safe space for refocusing. A space like this will allow me to implement important social-emotional learning strategies for my second graders.

My hope is that by creating a corner with appropriate signage, sensory tools, and resources, little learners will recognize how to control their big emotions.
