My Project
Our speech students have many sensory needs. During a typical school day, students experience all types of sensory input! Whether auditory, visual, tactile, or vestibular - our students are learning to communicate their need for various sorts of input, but, we also want them to learn to communicate if that input is too much for them. This project has been created to help the speech team create our own Cool Down Corner!
Our goal is to provide our students with a safe space to go when they need a break from feeling overstimulated.
During speech sessions, we want our students to learn to communicate their needs effectively. If our students are not regulated, they will not be able to learn to communicate effectively.
Some items, such as a tent, light up toys, and textured tiles will serve as tools for students to 'cool down' during breaks in their speech therapy session.
