My Project

This project combines student leadership, media production, and social advocacy with an engaging, creative twist—a slushie machine!

The goal is to create a student-led news show that tackles serious topics such as sexual abuse, drug and alcohol use, and bullying in a way that encourages open conversations among students.

With your support, we strive to address these challenges by raising awareness and funds for Aiken Barnell Mental Health Organization, a non-profit committed to preventing bullying and suicide among teens.

The slushie machine will serve as a fun, inviting element that attracts student engagement and fosters a comfortable, relaxed environment.

Project Components:

1. Student Roles: Students will Leads the discussion, presents news topics, and interviews guests.

Slushie Station: Prepares and serves slushies to participating students, ensuring a welcoming environment.

Material:

Slushie Machine: To create an inviting atmosphere where students feel comfortable engaging in discussions.

Ingredients: Make slushies for students to enjoy during the filming sessions.

Implementation:

Recording Sessions:

“Slushie & Speak” Segments: Students will discuss serious topics in a casual setting while enjoying their drinks, making the conversation more approachable. Share it via school announcements, YouTube, or social media.

3. Student Action & Leadership

Fundraising & Sales:

Students will organize and execute fundraising activities, such as selling slushies at school events, online, and within the community. They will actively promote and sell the slushies by raising awareness about the project’s mission and how purchasing them directly supports Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Organization’s efforts to prevent bullying and support teen mental health.

Awareness Campaigns:

Students will lead awareness campaigns using social media, school announcements, and community outreach to educate their peers about bullying and mental health. They will distribute flyers and materials explaining the importance of the cause and how the funds raised will support Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Organization’s programs.
