Cool Coding Stations for Young Learners

My Students

My students are creative and innovative twenty-first-century learners who are looking for opportunities to connect with the world around them. Forty percent of these students are economically disadvantaged.

My students would love to have new coding activities and toys in our Digital Den.

Our lab currently has two Lego WeDo stations for my upper grade students and one Botley Robot for my early learners. We are borrowing BeeBots and Code-A-Pillar temporarily from another teacher. My students have enjoyed these stations so much, I would love to see more of this excitement for coding in them. I need engaging tools to build and develop lessons and project-based activities for early learners that will stimulate their love for learning.

These students embrace challenges and are eager to learn new skills and technologies. My campus is a place where students thrive when new challenges come their way and would love to have a few more stations in our lab.

My Project

We are developing stations in our remodeled computer lab. Currently we are borrowing some coding toys from another teacher. We really could use some of our own coding station toys as we are going to need to return what we are using soon. As we have started learning coding skills, I've observed that my early learners really need stations appropriate for their age. I've selected some highly rated coding toys and unplugged activities that will help them with the algorithmic thinking that they need. Not only will these early learners develop coding skills but they will have fun while doing it!
