My Project
Our students have been requesting new, "cooler" books for their independent readers, and our classroom library choices are lacking. They borrow these books of their own choosing and use them for their reading log homework assignments. They read nighty and interact with the novel through a series of eight writing prompts that we rotate through for the entire year. The more engaged they are with the novel, the more their Lexile reading levels rise which directly correlates to their success in the rest of middle school, high school, and the career world beyond. This project will get our students The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Rick Riordan books, Harry Potter series, and the Land of Stories series because these are what they keep asking us to get. They'll be begging each other to hurry up so they can borrow these books next.
