I am the Librarian at a Title I school serving PreK-6th-grade students, all of whom receive 100% free school lunch. Many of our students have limited English, low language skills, and very little parent involvement. We have approximately 400 students. We have 19 languages represented. Approximately 29% are Pacific Islander, 20% African American, 12% Hispanic, 12% Native American, 10% Multiracial, 10% White, and 6% Asian.

We have students with rough lives. Students who don't speak English. They see themselves in books, no matter what their circumstances. The students love new books, let's give them a good selection to choose from and keep students reading.
My Project
I am on a mission to have great books in my library for my students. Books from the this decade, not the 1990's. I am trying to update our collection with books students want to read. Not old books that are in poor shape.
These are books kids will want to read!
