My Project

My students are special because they are learning to express themselves in an environment away from their classmates. Some of the students love to draw to express themselves. Providing a space and coloring books, scribble pads and books, fidgets, etc.

Providing students with a library for the calm down center will allow the students to address specific emotions and coping mechanisms.

The students can see their feelings reflected in the characters.

The calm down corner gives the student a chance to take advantage of flexible seating. Some students even take their shoes off. They are so involved in the self-regulation emotion activities and lose sight of time. No worries, the visual classroom timers are brighted colored and the sound is audible.

The calm down corner is a dedicated space in the classroom for students to manage their reactions to big emotions. This allows students to calm down and refocus IN the classroom, rather than being sent out and missing instruction time.
