Cool Air for Cool Kids!

Help me give my students a portable air conditioner for our classroom because our classroom is not air-conditioned and it gets very hot each spring and fall.

My Project

I teach 3- and 4-year-old students with autism in Minneapolis. The school is in an urban setting and serves many children who qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch and who may be highly mobile or experience homelessness. We work on communication, early academic skills, self-help/adaptive skills, and social-emotional learning as we learn to play and play to learn!

This project would provide an air conditioner for the classroom in order to keep the room cool enough for my students to participate and have fun learning.

Our classroom has very limited ventilation and when the weather gets hot out, it is unbearable for my students. Due to their needs and young age, they are unable to manage their emotions, regulate, or focus when it is too hot in the room. Many of them will not drink water or eat a popsicle to keep cool. Currently, educational opportunities are limited when it is too warm in the classroom, and the kids have a hard time remaining happy and playing. Help us cool down so we can stay cool to learn and grow!
