My Students

I am in a low-income/high poverty school district where students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom on a daily basis. My goal each and everyday is to provide consistency in their lives and to shower them with positive praise and wonderful experiences.

My classroom is the only one of its kind in the school.

It is a Self-Contained Low-Incidence Special Needs Classroom consisting of students that require a significantly modified curriculum and exhibit severe social emotional disorders as well. Due the nature of their disabilities it is important to provide the students with hands on learning activities and skills that will help them to become self-sufficient and lifelong learners outside of the classroom as well.

I take pride in the way I teach my students on a daily basis and am very proud of each and every one of their accomplishments no matter how small or big they may be. Each of my students is unique and have qualities that make them special and wonderful in their own ways.

My Project

These essentials and supplies will give my special needs students the opportunity to learn to eat healthy snacks to improve their minds and bodies. Many of them come from impoverished homes and the only healthy meals are the ones they consume in school.

By cooking weekly and by eating healthy in our classroom, my special needs students will learn the importance of eating right everyday.

They will also be able to take some of their finished products home to enjoy.

The supplies I am requesting will be utilized on a daily basis. The disinfecting wipes and paper towels will be used to make sure the students know the importance of preparing the cooking area to be cleaned and sanitary. The healthy food and drinks will be used to feed my disadvantaged students while instilling in them the importance of good eating habits.
