This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
“Education that helps young people develop life skills has transformative potential.” My students are an important part of my life. They each have a personality that shines brightly every day. Part of their curriculum includes a life skills course. This course ranges from a multitude of topics. Topics include social communication, personal hygiene, career paths, money management, laundry skills, community awareness, cooking, etc. These topics are important because they focus on the student's improvement of their independence, daily life skills, communication, and critical/creative thinking, and prepare them for any challenges they may face as they enter their adult life.
With these materials, you will be giving my student's the opportunity to learn how to become self-sufficient in the kitchen.
They will be learning how to use various appliances and cooking utensils to then create their own meals. Preparing snacks and meals will allow them to take charge and take on more responsibilities in their day-to-day life at home.
