Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have a class of special education self-contained students from K-12. I love to hug and encourage the students in their daily success in the classroom.

My students want to be as independent as they can.

I encourage them to not be dependent on others. I have two autistic students who are very loving and caring. I have a visually impaired student that loves to color and draw. I also have one student who has the best smile that will brighten any person's bad day.

My Project

My students are in junior high and are entering the phase of independent cooking skills so they can feed themselves at home.

I want to teach them how to properly use each item to reduce the danger of hurting themselves when they try to fix themselves something to eat.

The students are very independent and want to learn, and cooking is a skill that you have to practice to get it right. They are excited to do hands-on learning as they cook with real pots and pans as well as sample the food they have created.
